Cleaning a house is a big task, especially if the place is vast. You need to pay attention to many areas daily, which can become a nasty and monotonous task. Instead of giving a major clean every week or month, it is a better idea to you clean a bit of your house every day. Here we provide some tips on how to perform a general clean of your place.

First off, go room by room and gather all the clutter. Once you tidy up it will be easy for you to clean the place.

Bedroom

  • Open the window to let some fresh air in.
  • Make the bed.
  • Gather all the clothing from the floor and store it where it belongs (most probably the washing basket).
  • If there is other stuff on the floor, put it away.
  • Vacuum around the room. After that mop and polish the floor.
  • Remove all the cobwebs.
  • Wipe down all the drawers and other surfaces that usually attract tons of dust.
  • Clean all computer parts (monitor, keyboard, mouse).
  • Wipe the mirror with a glass cleaner.
  • It is very important to clean all the rugs and carpets and sometimes it is better to trust professionals - http://www.perfectcleaning.org.uk/rug-cleaning/

    Proceed to the next room.

    Living room

    • Gather all the clutter that shouldn't be there if you didn't to it beforehand.
    • Vacuum the floor and make sure you cover out-of-sight places.
    • Cover the furniture.
    • Dust the room.
    • Mop and polish the floor.
    • Wipe down the TV.
    • Wipe all drawers, tables and surfaces there are in the room.

      Proceed to the next room.

      Kitchen

      • Remove all the stuff on the counter-tops and wipe them down.
      • Clean all the kitchen appliances.
      • Clean the oven with an all-purpose cleaner or baking soda.
      • Clean the microwave with a special cleaner.
      • Wipe down the outside of the fridge.
      • Load the dishwasher.
      • Clean the coffeemaker.
      • Wipe the table and chairs.
      • Gather all the clutter and throw it away.
      • Empty the trash.

        Proceed to the next room.

        Bathroom and toilet

        • Before you start cleaning, make sure you put on rubber gloves. Some of the cleaning products can be harmful to the skin, that's why it is good to use gloves to protect your hands.
        • Pour some all-purpose cleaner or bleach into the toilet bowl and let it rest for a while. Be sure to put the brush inside so that it gets disinfected too.
        • Open the window if there is any or ensure the proper ventilation.
        • Remove cobwebs.
        • Apply scrub powder to areas that need special attention like stains, soap scum, lime and other dirt. This includes the sink, tub, shower and faucets. Let the powder work for 15 minutes while you focus on other stuff.
        • Get back to the toilet and scrub it with the brush. Clean the exterior. Don't forget to use different cloths and rags for every surface you clean. Flush the toilet.
        • Clean the mirror.
        • Get back to the shower. Scrub to get rid of the scum and lime. Rinse and dry with a towel.
        • Sweep the floor. Mop and polish. Use hot soapy water. For better results you may add a little bit of bleach into the water.
